Daly-Wilson Big Band is a 17-piece jazz ensemble from Sydney, Australia. The band was founded in 2004 by saxophonist and composer Dave Daly and drummer/arranger Doug de Vries. The band has become one of Australia’s leading big bands, performing at many of the country’s major jazz festivals, including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and supporting internationally acclaimed artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, and Diana Krall.

The band has released three albums, each showcasing their unique blend of jazz, funk, and soul. Their first album, ‘Daly-Wilson Big Band’ (2005), was nominated for an ARIA Award and featured a cover of Weather Report’s classic ‘Birdland’. Their second album, ‘Live at the Basement’ (2008), was recorded live at the legendary Sydney venue and includes an eclectic mix of originals and covers. Their most recent album, ‘The Sun Also Rises’ (2011), was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer John Merchant and features an exciting blend of funk, Latin, and swing.

The Daly-Wilson Big Band is known for their dynamic and energetic live performances, featuring the tight horn section and funky rhythm section. Standout tracks include ‘Circles’, ‘The Sun Also Rises’, ‘Birdland’, and ‘Miles’, all of which showcase the band’s tight and exciting arrangements.
