Count Basie Vinyl Records

Count Basie was a renowned American jazz pianist, organist, composer and bandleader who led one of the most influential jazz groups of all time. He began his career in Kansas City in the 1920s, and soon established himself as a master of the jazz piano, playing in bands led by Bennie Moten and Walter Page. By the mid-1930s, Basie had formed his own big band, which featured a distinctively swinging rhythm and tight ensemble playing.

Count Basie and his band had numerous successful albums and singles throughout the 1930s and 1940s, including Swingin' the Blues, One O'Clock Jump, and April in Paris. Basie's Orchestra won six Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1984. Some of the standout songs from Count Basie's repertoire include "One O'Clock Jump," "Jumpin' at the Woodside," "Lil' Darlin'," and "April in Paris."

An interesting fact about Count Basie is that he was an early adopter of the electric guitar, having been one of the first to use an electric guitar on a jazz recording in 1937. He also performed with legendary jazz musicians like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Sarah Vaughan.
