Chosen Few

Chosen Few is a reggae band from Jamaica, founded in 1973. The original members were Winston 'Pipe' Matthews, Keith Porter, Carlton 'Santa' Davis, and Clive Hunt. The band was active until the late 1980s and reunited in the late 2000s.

The band is best known for their debut album, 'Chosen Few: The Foundation' which was released in 1975. The album featured the hit song "Try A Little Smiling", which became a popular track in Jamaica. The album was a success and the band released a string of successful albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including 'Rocking Reggae' (1977), 'A Little Love' (1980) and 'Chosen Few III' (1983).

The band's most successful album was 'Chosen Few in Dub' (1979). The album featured dub versions of their hits and was produced by Clive Hunt. It was a critical success and was followed by two more albums in the same style, 'In Dub Vol. 2' (1981) and 'In Dub Vol. 3' (1984).

The band is also known for their collaboration with singer-songwriter Bob Marley, appearing on his albums 'Kaya' (1978) and 'Survival' (1979).

An interesting fact about Chosen Few is that they were the first Jamaican band to tour the United States in 1975.
