Chinese Classical

Chinese Classical music is a genre of traditional music which is rooted in the music of China’s ancient past. It is a distinct and complex musical tradition that has developed over thousands of years and encompasses a wide variety of styles and genres. Its origin can be traced back to Confucianism and the music of the ancient Chinese court, as well as the folk music of the various regions and ethnic groups of China. The main instruments used in this style are the qin (a seven-string zither), erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument), dizi (a transverse flute), yangqin (a hammered dulcimer), and percussion instruments. The melodies, rhythms, and forms of Chinese Classical music are often quite different from those of other musical styles. Characteristics of Chinese Classical music include its delicate and intricate melodic lines, complex rhythm patterns, and its use of improvisation.
