Chic is an American disco and R&B band that was formed in 1976 by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. The band is widely considered one of the most influential disco acts of the 1970s and is best known for their hit singles “Le Freak”, “Good Times”, and “I Want Your Love”.

Chic’s debut album, Chic, was released in 1977 and featured the single “Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)”, which became an instant hit. Their follow-up album, C’est Chic, was released in 1978 and included their most popular single “Le Freak”. The album was a major success, reaching #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and selling over 6 million copies.

Their next album, Risqué, was released in 1979 and featured the hit singles “Good Times” and “My Forbidden Lover”. The album was certified triple platinum and reached #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In the early 1980s, Chic released several more albums, including Take It Off (1981), Tongue in Chic (1982), and Believer (1983). The band’s last studio album, Chic-Ism, was released in 1992 and included the singles “Chic Mystique” and “Your Love”.

An interesting fact about Chic is that they are one of the most sampled bands in music history. Their songs have been sampled by numerous hip-hop, R&B, and pop artists, including The Notorious B.I.G., Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, and Kanye West.
