Carmen Dragon (1914-1984) was an American composer, conductor and arranger. He is best known for his arrangements of popular songs for film and television, as well as for his own works. He was born in Antioch, California and attended San Francisco State University.

Dragon's first major success came with his arrangement of “Sleigh Ride” for the 1948 film "Holiday Inn". He went on to work on films such as "Anchors Aweigh", "On the Town" and "My Fair Lady". He also arranged songs for television shows such as "The Lawrence Welk Show", "Bonanza" and "The Flintstones".

Dragon released a number of albums throughout his career, including "Music for Moderns", "Carmen Dragon Conducts Music of Christmas" and "Hollywood Favourites". His standout albums include "The Carmen Dragon Collection", which features his arrangements of classic movie themes and popular songs, and "Carmen Dragon Conducts Romantic Classics", a compilation of some of his best known works.

Some of his most popular songs include "Sleigh Ride", "White Christmas", "The Lonely Goatherd", "The Ballad of Davy Crockett", and "Fugue for Tinhorns".

An interesting fact about Dragon is that he was the first to introduce the French horn to rock and roll music, when he arranged the horn parts for Elvis Presley's hit song "Don't Be Cruel".
