Camel Vinyl Records

Camel is an English progressive rock band that formed in 1971 in Guildford, England. The band has had many lineup changes throughout the years, with founding members Andy Latimer (guitar, flute, vocals) and Pete Bardens (keyboards) being the only constants. The band’s first album, Camel, was released in 1973 and featured the single β€œNever Let Go”, which was a minor hit in the UK.

Camel’s best known and most critically acclaimed album is 1975’s The Snow Goose, a concept album about a young girl and her crippled friend. The album, which featured mostly instrumental music, was a commercial success and is considered by many to be one of the finest examples of progressive rock. Other standout albums include 1976’s Moonmadness and 1977’s Rain Dances.

The band is also known for their popular singles, such as β€œLunar Sea”, β€œUnevensong” and β€œEchoes”. They have also released live albums and compilations of their greatest hits.

An interesting fact about Camel is that they were the first band to be signed to the influential progressive rock label Decca. The band’s first album was released on Decca in 1973.
