Calexico Vinyl Records

Calexico is an American band from Tucson, Arizona, that blends traditional Latin American and Southwestern sounds with indie rock and post-rock. Founded in 1996, the band has released nine studio albums, three live albums, and numerous EPs, compilations, and collaborations.

Calexico's early work was heavily influenced by traditional Latin American music, but their later albums have seen the band move towards more indie rock and post-rock sounds. Their first full-length album, Spoke, was released in 1998 and saw them gain a cult following. Their breakthrough album, Hot Rail, followed in 2000 and featured the standout tracks “Across the Wire” and “Sunken Waltz”. This was followed by 2002’s Feast of Wire and 2005’s Garden Ruin, both of which featured the singles “Quattro” and “The News About William”.

Calexico’s most recent studio album, Algiers, was released in 2012 and featured the single “Splitter”. The band has also collaborated with other artists, including Iron & Wine, Richard Buckner, and Lucinda Williams.

An interesting fact about Calexico is that they have been performing live shows with mariachi bands since 1998. This has become a staple of their live performances, with the band often inviting local mariachi bands to join them on stage.
