Black was an English rock band formed in London in 1978. The group originally consisted of lead vocalist Colin Vearncombe, bassist Peter Thorup, drummer John Reed and keyboardist Dave Scott. They are best known for their 1986 hit single "Wonderful Life".

Black's first two albums, Wonderful Life (1987) and the follow-up, Complementary (1989), featured their biggest hits, "Wonderful Life" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses", respectively. Both albums were critically acclaimed and are considered classics of the new wave genre.

Other standout albums and songs from Black include the singles "Sweetest Smile" (1987) and "Paradise" (1990), as well as the albums Rush (1991), Geffery (1993), and Black (1996).

An interesting fact about Black is that the band reunited in 2002 and released the album Crossover, which featured a more electronic sound than their previous work. They released two more albums, Before (2006) and After (2009), before disbanding in 2011.
