Billy Thorpe was an Australian rock and roll musician and singer-songwriter who was active from the late 1950s until his death in 2007. He was a major influence in the Australian music scene and was known for his high energy performances.

Billy Thorpe's first album, 1965's The Aztecs featuring Billy Thorpe, was an instant success and spawned the singles "Poison Ivy" and "Mashed Potato". He followed it up with his classic rock album, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, which included the hit single "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy". His next album, The Hoax Is Over, included his version of the Bob Dylan classic "Like a Rolling Stone" and the title track.

Other notable albums by Billy Thorpe include Children of the Sun, East of Eden's Gate, The Billy Thorpe Story, and Over the Top. His most popular songs include "Mashed Potato", "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy", "Poison Ivy", "It's Almost Summer", and "Like a Rolling Stone".

An interesting fact about Billy Thorpe is that he was one of the first musicians to introduce the Moog synthesizer to the Australian music scene. He was also a mentor to a number of notable Australian musicians, including the members of AC/DC.
