Billy Higgins Vinyl Records

Billy Higgins (1936-2001) was an American jazz drummer and one of the most recorded jazz drummers of all time. He was a pioneer of the West Coast jazz movement and was the house drummer for the iconic Blue Note Records label. He was a founding member of the acclaimed quartet, The Jazz Messengers, and played with some of the most influential jazz musicians of all time, including John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, and Sonny Rollins.

Some of his standout albums include:

-Highway One (1968) -The Standard Bearer (1978) -Real Life (1979) -My Funny Valentine (1983)

Some of his most memorable songs include:

-“Blues Walk” (from the album The Standard Bearer) -“Grew's Tune” (from the album Highways) -“Love For Sale” (from the album Real Life)

An interesting fact about Billy Higgins is that he was a master of the "shuffle beat," a technique of playing jazz drums that is characterized by a swung triplet feel. This technique became one of his signatures and has been adopted by many jazz drummers since.
