Belinda Carlisle is an American singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1970s as the lead singer of the all-female band The Go-Go’s. The band achieved several hit singles, including "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed", which propelled the band to fame. After the band disbanded in 1985, Carlisle went on to pursue a solo career, releasing her debut album, Belinda, in 1986.

Her most successful solo album is Heaven on Earth (1987), which contained the hit singles "Heaven Is a Place on Earth", "Circle in the Sand" and "I Get Weak". The album went on to sell five million copies worldwide and was certified triple platinum in the United States. Other successful albums include Runaway Horses (1989) and Live Your Life Be Free (1991).
