Beastie Boys Vinyl Records

The Beastie Boys were an American hip-hop group from New York City, originally consisting of Mike D (Michael Diamond), MCA (Adam Yauch) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz). The trio formed in 1979 and released their debut EP Polly Wog Stew in 1982. They signed to Def Jam Recordings in 1985, and released their debut studio album, Licensed to Ill, in 1986.

Licensed to Ill was the first rap album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and was certified diamond in the US. The album featured popular songs such as “Fight For Your Right” and “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”. The Beastie Boys followed up with their second album Paul’s Boutique in 1989, which featured a more experimental sound. The album is now considered a classic and was named one of the greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

The Beastie Boys released their third album Check Your Head in 1992, which featured a mix of rap, punk and funk sounds. The album spawned the singles “So What’cha Want” and “Pass the Mic”. They released their fourth album Ill Communication in 1994, which featured the hit singles “Sabotage” and “Sure Shot”.

The Beastie Boys released their fifth album Hello Nasty in 1998, which won them a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album. Their sixth album To The 5 Boroughs was released in 2004, and featured the singles “Ch-Check It Out” and “Triple Trouble”. The Beastie Boys released their final album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two in 2011.

The Beastie Boys are considered pioneers of hip-hop and have been credited with helping to popularize the genre. They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors. An interesting fact about the Beastie Boys is that they are the first and only rap group to ever win a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
