The group's debut album, Deep Sea Skiving, was released in 1983 and was an instant success. It contained the hit singles "Shy Boy" and "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye". The group's follow-up album, Bananarama, was released in 1984 and contained the hit singles "Cruel Summer", "Robert De Niro's Waiting" and "Rough Justice".

Bananarama's third album, True Confessions, was released in 1986 and contained the hit singles "Venus" and "I Heard a Rumour". Their fourth album, Wow!, was released in 1987 and contained the hit singles "I Can't Help It", "Love in the First Degree" and "I Want You Back".

The group's fifth and most successful album, Pop Life, was released in 1991 and contained the hit singles "Nathan Jones", "Long Train Running" and "Movin' On".
