Ash Ra Tempel is a German progressive rock band, active from 1970 to 1976. The original trio consisted of Manuel Göttsching, Klaus Schulze and Hartmut Enke. The group is considered to be one of the most influential acts in the Krautrock scene, pioneering the use of electronic instruments and effects in rock music. The group's most notable albums include their self-titled debut album (1971), Seven Up (1972), Schwingungen (1972) and Join Inn (1973). Their self-titled debut was a blend of psychedelic and progressive rock, while Seven Up featured more of a jazz-rock style. Schwingungen was a more experimental effort, and Join Inn was a mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation. The group's most popular songs include "Amboss", "Sonnenschein", and "Jenseits". An interesting fact about Ash Ra Tempel is that they were the first German rock band to sign a major label contract with Virgin Records in 1973. They released their final album Starring Rosi in 1976 before disbanding.
