Artur Schnabel

Artur Schnabel (1882-1951) was an Austrian pianist and composer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, and is known for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Mozart.

Schnabel's most famous and critically acclaimed albums include "The Last Three Sonatas of Beethoven" (1934), "The Complete Piano Sonatas of Schubert" (1935), and "The Complete Piano Sonatas of Mozart" (1937). His recordings of Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations" and "The Late Piano Sonatas" are also considered landmark recordings.

Among Schnabel's most popular songs are Beethoven's "Für Elise" and "Moonlight Sonata," Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," and Schubert's "Ave Maria."

An interesting fact about Artur Schnabel is that he was the first pianist to record all of Beethoven's piano sonatas. He recorded them between 1930 and 1935. He also served as a professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 1937 to 1939.
