Arthur Fiedler Vinyl Records

Arthur Fiedler (December 17, 1894 – July 10, 1979) was an American conductor of classical and popular music. He was best known for his long tenure as the conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, a symphony orchestra that specializes in popular and light classical music. Fiedler was also a champion of light classical music, which he often called "pops."

Fiedler's first album, “The Boston Pops Orchestra Plays the Music of Victor Herbert” (1954), was an instant hit and marked the beginning of his long career with the orchestra. He went on to release dozens of popular albums and singles with the Boston Pops, many of which featured Fiedler's trademark arrangements of popular tunes. Notable albums include “The Most Requested Pops” (1967), “More Music of George Gershwin” (1968), “The Best of Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops” (1973), and “The Music of Lerner & Loewe” (1974).

Some of Fiedler's most popular songs include “76 Trombones”, “Strike Up the Band”, “Let's Face the Music and Dance”, and “Puttin' on the Ritz”.

An interesting fact about Arthur Fiedler is that he was the first conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra to record music with stereo sound, which he did in 1959. He was also the first to conduct the orchestra on television, beginning in 1965.
