Art Tatum was an American jazz pianist and composer. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, and was considered one of the most influential jazz pianists of the 20th century. He is known for his virtuosity, improvisational skills, and the wide range of musical styles he explored. Tatum's career began in the 1920s and he achieved widespread recognition in the 1930s. He was a prolific recording artist, releasing over 300 recordings over the course of his career. His most popular albums include "The Complete Capitol Recordings of Art Tatum" (1953), "The Art Tatum Solo Masterpieces" (1956), and "The Best of Art Tatum" (1960). Some of his standout songs include "Tea for Two" (1933), "I Got Rhythm" (1934), and "Begin the Beguine" (1935). An interesting fact about Art Tatum is that he was completely blind in one eye, and only had partial sight in the other. Despite this, he was able to play the piano with tremendous skill and accuracy.
