Albert King Vinyl Records

Albert King (1923-1992) was an American blues musician and guitarist. He was an influential figure in the world of blues and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. He was known for his distinctive, powerful guitar playing style, which was often characterized by string bending, vibrato and a distinctive tone.

King's career began in the late 1940s, when he played in clubs and on the radio in his home state of Arkansas. He soon moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he recorded his first hit single, “Don’t Throw Your Love on Me So Strong”, in 1958. King would go on to release a number of popular albums, including Born Under a Bad Sign (1967), King of the Blues (1968), and I’ll Play the Blues for You (1972). His standout songs include “Crosscut Saw”, “Born Under a Bad Sign”, “The Sky Is Crying” and “I’ll Play the Blues for You”.

An interesting fact about Albert King is that he was left-handed but he chose to play guitar upside down, with the bass strings on the bottom, so that he could have better access to the higher strings. This became his signature playing style.
