A Certain Ratio (ACR) is a British post-punk band formed in 1978 in Manchester, England. The band is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of funk, jazz and dance music in the post-punk era. The original lineup included Simon Topping (vocals), Martin Moscrop (guitar), Donald Johnson (drums), Jeremy Kerr (bass), and Peter Terrell (keyboards).

The band's most successful albums include The Graveyard and the Ballroom (1979), To Each… (1981), and Mind Made Up (2006). Their most popular songs include “Do the Du”, “Shack Up”, “Flight” and “Knife Slits Water”.

An interesting fact about A Certain Ratio is that they were one of the first bands to use drum machines and synthesizers in their music. They were also among the first British bands to tour the United States.
