  • A good two years ago, Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison moved from Scotland to Los Angeles. The reason for this was, how could it be otherwise, love. However, the singer quickly realized that he was in the wrong place in the Californian metropolis, especially since his entire band had remained in Scotland. Their new album "Painting Of A Panic Attack" is about homesickness and the experiences and adventures Hutchison had in the big American city.

Again, it's been twelve years since Frightened Rabbit formed in Glasgow, Scotland. Over time, the former trio grew into a quintet and released four studio albums until 2016.

"Painting Of A Panic Attack" is thus number five and, as the successor to "Pedestrian Verse" (2013), which propelled the band into the TOP-10 of the British charts for the first time, the second release on a major label.

The band composed a total of twelve songs for their new album, including the balladic "Death Dream," the record's first single release. It's clear from the first listen that, like so many bands before them, Frightened Rabbit are making increasing use of electronic sounds in 2016. Old-established fans should not close their minds to this, however, because actually the synthesizer sounds fit very well to the music of the Scots. This becomes clear at the latest when listening to the second single "Get Out".

For the production Frightened Rabbit sought the help of multi-instrumentalist and The National member Aaron Dessner. Together they recorded "Painting Of A Panic Attack" in 2015 in his studio in Brooklyn as well as in Dreamland Studios in Woodstock, New Jersey.

Even if the move was a mistake for Scott Hutchison, it has something good for all Frightened Rabbit fans: "Painting Of A Panic Attack" is the new album of the Scots - with a penchant for electronic sounds.
