Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard already mastered the Texas boogie perfectly on their second longplayer Rio Grande Mud, even if the focus was even more on blues rock here. The lesson they had learned between their debut and this LP was that blues feeling, rocking guitar sound and a good portion of cool detachment also require a suitable black funk groove to round things off and make them so irresistible (danceable)
"Francine", for example, already anticipates the groove of "Gimme All Your Lovin'', "Just Got Paid" could almost pass for funk with its opening riff, and even in the more traditional blues numbers like "Mushmouth Shoutin" or "Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell" you can feel that unique groove of the "Little Ol`Band From Texas". If you love earthy blues rock without frills, you can't miss this disc
Reviews
, "Deguello was able to impressively stand up to the emerging punk and new wave competition." (Good Times, December 2011/January 2012)
