Nothing But Thieves – Dead Club City

With their 2023 single "Welcome To The DCC" - a powerful track bursting with self-confidence - as well as an accompanying video, Nothing But Thieves reported back, much to the delight of their numerous fans . This was followed by the announcement of their fourth album "Dead Club City", which will be released via RCA/Sony Music.

With their new longplayer Nothing But Thieves open a new, innovative chapter. They convince with a series of songs that come along with their usual socially relevant, clever lyrics and testify to their ability to constantly develop their sound further while experimenting with the various genres that have shaped them as a band to date.

The band's first single from the album, "Welcome To The DCC," made its world premiere on Radio 1 as Clara Amfo's Hottest Record in the World. The track not only represents the band's new, more left-field sound, but also offers the very first glimpse into the cosmos of "DCC" - short for "Dead Club City" - and what fans can expect from the new work. The rock song, which features experimental funk and distinct '80s influences, gradually builds by means of an initial tension, finally breaking into a huge, soaring chorus with almost joyous synthesizers, in which you can hear the band sing, "Welcome to the DCC, Dead Club City. All the Heaven, all the time".

On their upcoming album, which totals eleven tracks, the band introduces their members-only club, "Dead Club City." The songs on the long player are about various characters and storylines that spin around this city. Is it a collective consciousness? Another planet? The next industrial wasteland? The sky? Or something else entirely?

With the club as the center of all events, it's easy to guess the real meaning behind "Dead Club City." Themes such as advertising, unity, internet culture, the music industry, aging, and even politics, as well as escapism and change, are highlighted through the alienation or privilege of a members-only club.
