Alkaline Trio – Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs

Alkaline Trio have announced their first studio album in six years, "Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs", which will be released in January 2024 via Rise Records.

The follow-up to 2018's "Is This Thing Cursed?" was recorded by the band in multiple studio sessions with producer Cameron Webb and takes its title from stories singer Matt Skiba remembers from his childhood. "My mother worked as an emergency room nurse for years," he said in a press release. "She and her coworkers referred to exceptionally busy nights as 'blood, hair and eyeballs.' Well, we've been busy making an extraordinary record, which we also refer to as 'Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs'."

Skiba went on to explain that the sound of the album was inspired by the process in which the band recorded it. "We approached this new record in a completely new way," he said. "We developed the songs together, from scratch, in the same room, which hasn't happened since the beginning of the band. Usually we start with an idea that someone has already written. This time we had the unique opportunity to build the songs on a drum kit that we had recorded on 2-inch tape at Studio 606 with one of the most beautiful and legendary mixing consoles in rock history. That has almost everything to do with how our new record sounds."
