Rico began his career in the late 1950s Years, when he played with such greats as Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken, and Max Romeo as a session musician, in addition to making in addition to making his own recordings. In the early 60s he moved to the UK, where he continued to perform continued to perform live and work as a session musician. In 1979 Rico met Jerry Dammers and began playing with The Specials. He became an honorary member of the band and together with Dick Cuthell he played on some of their most on some of their most famous tracks, creating a distinctive Sound.Jama Rico was the second album released in 1982 on 2 Tone Records. It was a more decisive statement, more African in its rhythms, and a hidden treasure Treasure within the 2 Tone label. This time the recording sessions were split between Joe Gibbs' studio in Jamaica and sessions at London's Town House London studios. The Jamaican sessions were again produced again produced by Dick Cuthell and included musician friends friends Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Headley Bennett and Ansel Collins. At the London sessions, produced by Dick and Jerry Dammers specials John Bradbury and Horace Panter and Horace Panter, as well as Tony Utah and Satch Dixon.. with them.This new remaster is part of the 2 Tone "40th Anniversary" releases and comes as 180g Heavyweight Black Vinyl with printed inner sleeve.
