Parcels – Day/Night (2xLP)

Now the Australians are back with their third self-produced studio album "Day / Night", which is similarly ambitious: A double album that combines quite a few styles and influences when they bring disco-soul and prog into play in equal measure, weaving together everything from pastoral folk to classic singer / songwriter styles à la Laurel Canyon to canvas-sized strings.

 

The bottom line is that "Day / Night" is an extremely multi-layered, expansively arranged and, above all, confident statement by the Australians, whose optimism set to music is urgently needed right now.
