During the blues boom in England in the 60s, there were many British blues bands, one of the finest being Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. In January 1969, Fleetwood Mac jammed at Chess Studios in Chicago with Willie Dixon, S. P. Leary, Honeyboy Edwards, J. T. Brown and long-time Muddy Waters pianist Otis Spann. The result of these sessions was the classic "Blues Jam At Chess". The harmony between the band and Spann was so good that they decided to record together.Otis Spann is completely himself on this record, soulful and animated, completely relaxed alongside his trusted drummer S. P. Leary. This combined with Peter Green, probably at the peak of his powers on this recording, made for one of the most important blues albums - "The Biggest Thing Since Colossus" is probably one of the most underrated blues albums.Long unavailable on vinyl, but now remastered from the original 1 / 4 inch tape, this LP belongs in every record cabinet.
