    Tom Tom Club’s debut is a bright, inventive post-punk side project that turned rhythm, wit and studio play into a lasting pop statement. Released in 1981, the album by Talking Heads’ Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz blended funk, dub, disco and synth-pop with Caribbean-influenced grooves and unforced humour. Built around the era-defining single “Genius of Love” and the sharp opener “Wordy Rappinghood”, it helped bring art-school experimentation into mainstream clubs and radio. Its easygoing invention and cross-genre appeal have kept it a favourite among listeners drawn to dance music with personality, detail and a clear sense of fun.
