Built around Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge, it balances expansive arrangements with songcraft on pieces such as Higher and Higher, Watching and Waiting and Gypsy. The record remains one of the group’s key albums, praised for its blend of melody, atmosphere and conceptual scope.
