The album is anchored by their hit cover of "Don't Leave Me This Way", which topped the UK Singles Chart in 1986, and also features the sleek, nocturnal pulse of "So Cold the Night". Released in 1986, it helped define the era’s crossover between club culture, pop radio and gay pride, making The Communards one of the decade’s most distinctive British pop acts.
