About this album
Bridge Of Sighs is Robin Trower’s breakthrough album, the record that established him as one of British rock’s most distinctive guitar voices. Released in 1974, it found the ex-Procol Harum guitarist refining his Hendrix-influenced attack into something leaner and more melodic, with James Dewar’s soulful vocals and Reg Isidore’s sturdy drumming giving the songs real weight. Produced by Matthew Fisher, the album balances hard-rock force with bluesy atmosphere and psychedelic colour, and the title track became its signature statement. The record helped define Trower’s solo career and remains widely regarded as a peak of 1970s guitar rock.
