About this album
Kill 'Em All is Metallica’s ferocious debut and one of the records that helped define thrash metal. Issued in 1983, it translated the speed and aggression of the band’s early live sound into a raw studio statement, with sharp riffs, breakneck tempo changes and the volatile energy of tracks such as Hit the Lights, Whiplash and Seek & Destroy. Produced by Paul Curcio with the band and recorded before Metallica became arena-sized, the album captured a new, harder strain of metal that inspired generations of heavier acts. Its influence has only grown since its initial release.
