    Zoolook is one of Jean-Michel Jarre’s most adventurous and inventive albums, pushing his electronic palette towards sampled human voices and rhythmic experimentation. Released in 1984, it built on his reputation for large-scale synthesiser composition while embracing the then-new possibilities of digital sampling and collage. Pieces such as Ethnicolor, Zoolookologie and Diva show Jarre combining melodic clarity with fractured vocal textures and futuristic sound design. The result helped define his mid-1980s move into more experimental territory, while still retaining the widescreen ambition and accessibility that made his work so influential in electronic music.
