The 1975

The 1975 is a British rock band formed in 2002 in Manchester. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel.

Their debut album, The 1975 (2013), was a commercial success and went straight to the top of the UK Albums Chart. It featured the hit single "Chocolate," which was certified gold in the UK and US. The band's second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It (2016), was a bigger commercial success, topping the UK Albums Chart for two weeks and peaking at number one in the US. It featured the singles "Love Me" and "The Sound," which both reached the top 10 in the UK.

The band's third album, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships (2018), was their first to reach number one in the US, and it featured the singles "Give Yourself a Try," "TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME," and "It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)."

The 1975's fourth album, Notes on a Conditional Form (2020), was their fourth consecutive number one album in the UK and their second in the US. It featured the singles "If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)," "People," and "The Birthday Party."

The 1975 have earned critical acclaim for their unique sound and often introspective lyrics. They have won numerous awards, including three BRIT Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

An interesting fact about The 1975 is that their name was taken from a Jack Kerouac poem that was scribbled on a page in a book of beat poetry that lead singer Matthew Healy found in a thrift store.
