The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (LA Phil) is a professional symphony orchestra based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1919, the LA Phil is considered one of the world’s leading orchestras and is one of the largest and most active in the United States. The orchestra is currently led by music director Gustavo Dudamel, who has been in the role since 2009.
The LA Phil has released many standout albums, including their debut album, LA Phil Live: The First 100 Years, which was released in 2019 to commemorate their centennial anniversary. Other standout albums include John Adams’s Harmonielehre, Brahms Symphony No. 2, and the Brahms Violin Concerto.
