Jean-Michel Jarre is a French electronic music composer, performer, and record producer. He is a pioneer in the electronic, ambient, and new-age genres, and known for huge outdoor concerts.

Jarre began his career as a session musician and arranger, but his first album, Deserted Palace (1972), was a collection of synthesizer-based ambient music. He gained international fame with the release of his second album, Oxygene (1976). This album was a breakthrough in the field of electronic music and is considered a landmark album. It spawned a number of singles, including "Oxygene Part 4", which became an international hit. His next album, Equinoxe (1978), was another successful release, and spawned the single "Equinoxe Part 5", which became another worldwide hit.

Jarre has released several other successful albums over the years, including Zoolook (1984), Rendez-Vous (1986), and Chronology (1993). He has also released several compilation albums, such as The Essential (1998) and Essential: History (2008).

Among his best-known songs are "Oxygene Part 4", "Equinoxe Part 5", "Rendez-Vous IV", and "Oxygene 8".

An interesting fact about Jean-Michel Jarre is that he holds the Guinness World Record for the largest outdoor concert in history, with an audience of 3.5 million people at his Paris La Défense concert in 1990.
