Funkadelic

Funkadelic is an American funk and soul band that was originally formed in 1968 by George Clinton, Eddie Hazel, and Ray Davis. The group was an offshoot of Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic collective and is known for its innovative and genre-bending approach to funk, soul, and psychedelic rock. Throughout the 1970s, Funkadelic released a series of albums that featured heavy use of guitar, bass, keyboards, and synthesizers, as well as elements of jazz, blues, and gospel.

Standout albums include 1970's Free Your Mind...and Your Ass Will Follow, 1972's America Eats Its Young, and 1976's Tales of Kidd Funkadelic. These albums featured hit songs like "(Not Just) Knee Deep", "One Nation Under a Groove", and "Cosmic Slop".

An interesting fact about Funkadelic is that in 1973, they became the first funk band to be nominated for a Grammy Award, in the Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals category. They lost to The Staple Singers' "I'll Take You There".
