Charli xcx brought club production into mainstream pop, Mk.gee reshaped guitar texture, Fontaines D.C. widened their sound and Billie Eilish made one of her most physically detailed records.

BRAT uses hard club drums, spare synth lines and unusually direct writing about ambition, friendship and insecurity. 360, Von dutch and Girl, so confusing work as immediate pop songs, but the album also documents the tension between confidence and self-doubt.
