Venus and Mars finds Wings at their most polished and expansive, balancing melodic pop-rock with stadium-sized ambition. Released in 1975, the album followed Band on the Run and confirmed Paul McCartney’s post-Beatles band as a major force in their own right. Built around crisp hooks, rich harmonies and a more muscular sound, it yielded one of Wings’ best-known singles, Listen to What the Man Said, alongside the title track and Rock Show. The record helped define the mid-1970s soft rock-to-pop-rock mainstream, pairing accessible songwriting with a more adventurous sense of scale and presentation.
