    Signing Off is the striking debut that announced UB40 as one of Britain’s most distinctive reggae bands. Issued in 1980, it blends roots reggae and dub with sharp social commentary, reflecting the unemployment and political tension of the period in its title and artwork as well as its music. Built around tight rhythms, horn lines and the band’s collective approach, the album includes early UB40 signatures such as “Food For Thought”, “King” and “Tyler”. Its mix of protest, melody and studio craft helped make the group a major force in British popular music and a landmark of the UK reggae scene.
