Traveling Wilburys’ Volume One is a rare supergroup debut that feels unified rather than novelty-driven. Released in 1988, the album brought together George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne, with Lynne’s polished production helping turn their collaboration into a relaxed, hook-heavy blend of rock and country-tinged pop. “Handle with Care” and “End of the Line” became signature songs, while the album’s easy chemistry and understated humour helped make it a commercial and critical success. It remains one of the most appealing examples of late-1980s roots-rock star power done with genuine charm.
