Face Dances is an LP by The Who from 1981 released on the Polydor label.
About this album
Face Dances finds The Who recalibrating after Keith Moon’s death, with sharper pop-rock songs and a more restrained, contemporary edge. Released in 1981, the album marked the band’s first studio set with Kenney Jones on drums and leaned into melody without losing Pete Townshend’s restless songwriting. ‘You Better You Bet’ became a major hit and set the tone for a record that balances reflective material such as ‘The Quiet One’ and ‘Another Tricky Day’ with punchier, radio-ready cuts. More measured than the group’s 1970s peak, it is still a significant late-period statement from one of rock’s defining bands.
