    Savage Eye shows The Pretty Things widening their sound into a tougher, more progressive late-period statement. Released in 1976, the album blends hard rock force with psychedelic colour and loose, exploratory arrangements, reflecting a band still willing to stretch beyond its early R&B roots. By this stage The Pretty Things had already earned a reputation as one of British rock’s most inventive underground groups, and Savage Eye carries that restless spirit into a more ambitious setting. Its mix of muscular riffs, atmospheric passages and sharply written songs such as Under The Volcano and It Isn’t Rock ’N’ Roll makes it a distinctive entry in their catalogue.
