    Night Train is a sterling showcase of the Oscar Peterson Trio at full stride, balancing virtuoso speed with relaxed, blues-rooted swing. Recorded in 1962 and released in 1963, the album finds Peterson joined by bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen, a rhythm section prized for both precision and feel. Built around standards and blues favourites such as the title track, ‘C Jam Blues’ and ‘Georgia On My Mind’, it captures the trio’s gift for turning familiar material into something bright, elegant and alive. Widely regarded as one of Peterson’s defining albums, it remains a high point of mainstream jazz piano.
