In The City is an LP by The Jam from 2006 released on the Polydor label.
About this album
In The City is a striking debut that introduced The Jam as more than a punk band: it paired speed and anger with sharp melody, social observation and a distinctly British mod sensibility. Released in 1977, the album announced Paul Weller as an unusually articulate young songwriter, while Bruce Foxton’s bass and Rick Buckler’s tight drumming gave the songs their punch and momentum. Built for the post-punk moment but rooted in 1960s-inspired style, it became a key statement of intent for a group that would soon grow into one of Britain’s most important singles bands.
