About this album
Waiting For The Sun shows The Doors broadening their blues-rock attack without losing their dark edge. Released in 1968, the album became their first to top the US charts and features “Hello, I Love You”, a No. 1 hit that gave the band one of its biggest commercial breakthroughs. Alongside that pop success, Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore push into psychedelia, cabaret moods and more ambitious songwriting on pieces such as “The Unknown Soldier” and “Five To One”. The result is one of the group’s most varied and accessible records, bridging their early intensity and later experiments.
