The Doors is a landmark debut that fused psychedelic rock, blues and acid rock into a sound that was as seductive as it was unsettling. Issued in 1967, it introduced the band’s dark theatricality and Jim Morrison’s brooding presence, while Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore supplied the sharp, hypnotic arrangements. From the urgent charge of Break On Through (To The Other Side) and Light My Fire to the ominous sweep of The End, the album helped define West Coast rock at the height of the counterculture. Its mix of pop instinct, blues roots and experimental edge made it one of the era’s most influential debuts.
