About this album
A Date With Elvis is one of The Cramps’ defining psychobilly statements, sharpening their blend of garage punk, surf menace and trashy rockabilly into a wickedly funny cult classic. Released in 1986, it finds Lux Interior and Poison Ivy turning B-movie imagery, sexual double entendres and outsider cool into a sound that helped define the band’s legacy. The album includes fan favourites such as Can Your Pussy Do The Dog? and What’s Inside a Girl?, songs that showcase their flair for hooks, swagger and deliberately low-down style. By this point, The Cramps had become standard-bearers for sleazy underground rock, and this record remains one of their most durable entries.
