Rubber Soul is a pivotal Beatles album that marked a clear step beyond early beat-pop formula. Released in 1965, it showed Lennon, McCartney and Harrison writing with greater depth, wit and psychological detail, while the band widened its palette with acoustic textures, sharper bass lines and more adventurous studio thinking. Songs such as Nowhere Man, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), In My Life and Michelle helped make the record one of the key turning points in 1960s rock. Widely regarded as one of the band’s finest works, Rubber Soul helped redefine what a mainstream pop album could say and do.
