Abbey Road is The Beatles at their most assured and meticulously crafted, turning late-period tension into some of their finest writing and studio work. Released in 1969, the album pairs Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr at full strength on songs such as Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun and the side-two medley, where fragments are shaped into a seamless whole. Produced by George Martin and recorded at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios, it became one of the group’s biggest artistic statements and a fitting final chapter in their studio career, balancing polished pop instinct with inventive sequencing and sonic detail.
